When to Worry vs. When It’s Cosmetic

When to Worry (action recommended)

  • Heavy sawfly damage
  • Significant needle loss
  • Scale or mite outbreaks

These can thin the plant and reduce long-term vigor.

Mostly Cosmetic (monitor only)

  • Mild winter burn
  • Minor needle spotting
  • Light mite activity

These often improve with better watering and seasonal recovery.
